Provincetown Annual Town Election Next Tuesday, May 13, 2025

The Town of Provincetown will hold its Annual Town Election in the Auditorium at Town Hall from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. next Tuesday, May 13, 2025. 

In-person Early Voting ahead of the Annual Town Election is available this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in the Town Clerk's Office at Town Hall during business hours. There will be no Early Voting on Saturday, Sunday, or next Monday.

The Provincetown Annual Town Election occurs every year on the second Tuesday of May, and it is when the registered voters of Provincetown vote for nominated elected officials and on ballot question(s).

This year, the following officers will appear on the Annual Town Election Ballot:

  • Two Select Board members for a term of three years:
    • David Abramson, John Golden
  • One Board of Library Trustees for a term of three years:
    • Write-In
  • One Charter Compliance Commission member for a term of three years:
    • Write-In
  • Two School Committee members for a term of three years:
    • Matthew Richard, Adrianna Stefani

Additionally, after being passed overwhelmingly by Town Meeting voters at Annual Town Meeting on April 7, 2025, voters will consider the following ballot question which needs to pass with a majority vote at the Annual Town Election.

Ballot Question 1: Operating Override to Fund our Full-time Combination Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services

  • Shall the Town of Provincetown be allowed to assess an additional $1,412,853 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of funding a Full-time Combination Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department and for additional Police Department overtime funding for the fiscal year beginning July first, two thousand and twenty-five?

A second petitioned ballot question is related to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth.

Ballot Question 2:

  • Whereas, Holtec, owner of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth, is discharging untreated radioactively and chemically contaminated industrial wastewater into the atmosphere; and, WHEREAS, these airborne pollutants are being carried by prevailing winds over and into Cape Cod Bay and our communities; and, WHEREAS, just as liquid discharge into Cape Cod Bay is in violation the Massachusetts Ocean Sanctuaries Act and other state laws, this gaseous discharge also violates the Ocean Sanctuaries Act and other state laws Holtec agreed to follow; and, WHEREAS, these airborne pollutants threaten public and environmental health and safety-including the safety of Holtec’s own workers- and our marine-based economy; Therefore, shall the people of the Town of Provincetown direct the town government to communicate with Governor Maura Healey, Attorney General Andrea Campbell, the State Legislature, and all other relevant authorities to employ all means available to ensure that the law is enforced and to ensure further that Holtec immediately cease the gaseous discharge of the radioactively and chemically contaminated industrial wastewater at Pilgrim?

Residents interested in running as a write-in candidate must be a registered voter in Provincetown. To be considered for election, a write-in candidate must receive at least five (5) valid write-in votes from Provincetown voters. Voters wishing to support a write-in candidate must legibly write the candidate’s full name in the blank space provided on the ballot for that position.
