Coastal Flood Watch & Wind Advisory In Effect Sunday in Provincetown

- Be prepared for flooding by:
- Clearing storm drains and catch basins near your property of leaves and debris.
- Protecting your property with sandbags, especially in low-lying areas of the East End that experienced flooding during the December 2023 and December 2022 storms.
- Raising or removing items in basements or low-lying areas.
- Contacting neighbors who may be out of town to let them know about the forecast so they can prepare their properties.
- Replacing any broken, cracked or frayed outdoor electrical outlets or cords and ensuring extension cords are rated for their intended use - never use an indoor extension cord outdoors.

A Wind Advisory is in effect from midnight tonight through 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Winds are forecast to be 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Residents should be prepared for possible minor coastal flooding, particularly leading up to high tide around 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. This tide is currently predicted to be around 13 feet with winds from the south/southwest at that time, which could result in flooding in the areas of the East End impacted by recent storm events. Shallow pockets of flooding may affect low lying areas in Provincetown, mainly near the airport and Race Point Road.
To prepare, the Department of Public Works has cleared storm drains and catch basins, replenished sand at Town landings, and extra staff will be on duty this Sunday to address any issues that may arise.
