San Miguel Power Association (SMPA) will close W. Pacific Avenue from Mahoney to Davis tomorrow, Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. so crews can install a new transformer base near the Cimarron Bridge.

This work is separate from the W. Pacific Street Improvement Project, but it is needed to replace an old underground power line that has caused recent power flickers and fluctuations.

What to expect:

• W. Pacific Ave will be fully closed from Mahoney to Davis between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
• All traffic, including the Galloping Goose, will be detoured to Colorado Avenue and down S. Tomboy Street.
• Drivers needing to reach Carhenge or travel east on W. Pacific from S. Tomboy should use this detour.
• The River Trail may also be impacted during the installation. Please use caution around crews and equipment.
