City of Wheaton, IL

Parkway Tree Pruning Program Underway

The City’s parkway tree pruning program is underway for the 2025 season. From now through late spring, City and contracted crews will be trimming City-owned and -maintained trees in the parkway, which is the area generally between the sidewalk (if one is present) and the street. This year’s program will include the area bordered by:
  • East Harrison Avenue to the south
  • North Main Street to the west
  • Geneva Road to the north, and
  • Glencoe Street to the east.
Each year, crews addresses a different section of the City to help preserve the natural growth habits of the City’s parkway trees. In addition to helping maintain parkway trees’ shape and appearance; this program also helps eliminate broken branches; reduces branches that occasionally grow too close to utility lines; and maintains visibility and vertical clearance for vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Please use caution if you are driving near an area where crews are working. For more information, contact the City Forestry Division at 630-260-2122.
