UPDATE: Railroad Tracks Reopened following Incident Involving Freight Train and Pedestrian

UPDATE – 11:55 A.M.: The railroad tracks in downtown Wheaton have been reopened, and police are leaving this area, following an incident involving a freight train and a pedestrian earlier this morning. Thank you for your patience. Metra riders should continue to refer to Metra’s website for updates to train schedules.


ORIGINAL INFORMATION: At approximately 9:31 a.m., the Wheaton Police and Fire Departments received a report of a train vs. pedestrian incident that occurred near Front and Cross Streets in downtown Wheaton. Trains along the Union Pacific West line have been halted in both directions near College Avenue while Metra Police conduct an investigation.

Please avoid this area while Metra Police investigate this incident, and train riders on the Union Pacific West Line should expect extensive delays. Please refer to Metra’s website for further updates on train schedules and delays.
