Memorial Day Parade and Temporary Road Closure Information

American Legion Post 76 will host the community’s Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. in Wheaton.

Parade Route:
The parade begins at the corner of Union Avenue and Hale Street, proceeding west on Union Avenue, turning south on West Street (where it will cross the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and Roosevelt Road), and ending at the Wheaton Cemetery. A ceremony will follow at Wheaton Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Information for veterans, youth groups, schools, bands and city entities interested in participating is available on the American Legion’s website.


Temporary Street Closures:

The following streets will be closed to traffic from approximately 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, May 25:
  • Hale Street between Wesley Street and Union Avenue
  • Wheaton Avenue between Wesley Street and Union Avenue
  • Union Avenue between Main Street and Gary Avenue
  • West Street between Franklin Street and Roosevelt Road
  • Wesley Street between Wheaton Avenue and Gary Avenue
  • Front Street between Wheaton Avenue and Gary Avenue
  • Liberty Drive at West Street
  • Illinois Street/Childs Street at West Street
  • Roosevelt between Carlton and Hale Street
  • Park Avenue at Warrenville Road
  • Elm Street at Warrenville Road
  • Warrenville Road between Roosevelt Road and Plamondon Road
  • Plamondon Road closed to northbound traffic between Warrenville Road and Orchard Road

In addition, parking will not be allowed at the following locations from 11 p.m. Sunday, May 24 through noon on Monday, May 25:
  • West Street between Union and Roosevelt Road
  • Elm Street between Main and Warrenville Road
  • Wheaton Avenue between Union and Wesley Street
  • Karlskoga Avenue between Wheaton and Hale Street
  • Hale Street between Wesley Street and Union
  • Union between Main and West Street
  • Seminary between Wheaton Avenue and West Street
  • Seminary between Main and Hale Street
During the event, these streets will be adequately staffed with uniformed officers to assist and direct traffic. Motorists may experience temporary traffic delays and may choose to alter their travel route to avoid these areas.
