A gas line was damaged in the 8 Mile & Schoenherr area last evening, affecting approximately 170 residents. Crews worked through the night, and all repairs to the natural gas pipeline have been completed. Currently, crews are working on relighting customers' appliances with pilot lights who have been affected by this outage.

Crews will be knocking on doors and will be required to enter residents’ homes to relight these appliances. They will be in their uniform with a Consumers Energy ID badge. If a customer is not home, the crew will leave a green tag on the door with instructions on how to contact Consumers Energy to schedule a relight at their convenience.

All customers will be contacted by 12:00 noon today.
