City of Crown Point Weekly Message April 9, 2024

Good evening, this is a message from the City of Crown Point with our weekly update.

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, East Summit Street between Main Street and Merrillville Road will be closed through the afternoon for repaving. We appreciate everyone’s patience while work is underway.

Beginning Monday, April 15, U.S. 231 will close through mid-June for two consecutive projects. U.S. 231 will first be closed between Hendricks Place and Tenbrook Drive for a pipelining project. After the first project is complete, U.S. 231 will be closed between Bell Street and Fathke Road for a small structure replacement project. The official detour will follow U.S. 41, U.S. 30 and State Road 55. We appreciate everyone’s patience while work is underway.

In the latest edition of The Hub, a message indicated garbage pick-up will be delayed due to the Fourth of July holiday. Garbage pick-up will not be delayed.

The Crown Point Public Works Department will pick up leaves throughout the month of April, weather permitting. There is not a guarantee leaves put out after April will be collected, as the leaf vacuums will not be out regularly again until the fall leaf collection. Place leaf piles away from obstructions and along the curb, not in the street; do not place leaves in bags; and ensure the leaves are clean and free of debris. Calling when yard work is complete is not necessary.

Lace up your sneakers and run around Crown Point for the 43rd annual Crossroads YMCA Hub Run at 1 p.m. this Sunday, April 14, at Bulldog Park. Register online by visiting hubrun.org. Proceeds benefit the YMCA income-based scholarship program.

Join Mayor Pete Land for Mondays with the Mayor at 6 p.m. Monday, April 15, at the Masonic Lodge, located at 213 S. Main St. Come hear about all the exciting things happening in the City!

Thank you, stay safe and have a great week!
