This is an important message from the City of Annapolis Office of Emergency Management:

The Annapolis Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is currently monitoring a slow-moving storm system that could bring several rounds of heavy rainfall, including the possibility of 1-2 inches within half an hour. Heavy rainfall could result in strong to severe impacts on the Annapolis area, most notably flash flooding.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has placed Central Maryland under a FLOOD WATCH due to possible excessive rainfall starting at 2:00 PM.

Severe thunderstorms are likely between 3 and 9 PM. These thunderstorms could have the potential to produce damaging wind gusts and significant rainfall rates, which may lead to several instances of flash flooding.

SAFETY REMINDERS

PREPARING FOR FLASH FLOODING:

- If flooding occurs while you’re outside, get to higher ground immediately!

- Never enter floodwaters in a vehicle or on foot.

- Be sure to enable Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on your phone or other mobile devices, as flooding could escalate quickly.

REPORT A POWER OUTAGE:

To report a power outage, please call, text, or submit a report to BGE directly. 

- Call BGE at 1-877-778-2222

- Online via BGE’s reporting website 

- Text OUT to MYBGE (69243) 

- BGE’s mobile app is available on the Apple Store and GooglePlay

DOWNED WIRES:

- Downed wires should be reported to BGE at 1-800-685-0123.

- Fallen overhead power lines should never be approached or touched, even if the lines do not appear to be live or sparking.

REPORTING DAMAGE & FLOODING:

- Residents can use the DAMAGE REPORT feature on the Prepare Me Annapolis App to report downed trees, debris, or other issues to OEM directly.
