AlertAnnapolis: Potential Severe Storms, Winds, and Flooding is Expected Today and Tomorrow
- Gail Warning - In effect until 11:00 PM tonight. South winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 40 kt and waves 2 to 4 ft.
- Gale Watch - In effect beginning 1300 Thursday afternoon until 0400 Friday morning. Northwest winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 40 kt and waves 2 to 4 ft possible.
- Coastal Flood Advisory - In effect from 4:00 PM to Midnight.
- Secure loose objects (furniture, trash cans, and other outdoor equipment) as these can become dangerous flying debris in high winds.
- Tree limbs could be blown down, resulting in a few sporadic power outages.
- Remember that fallen overhead power lines should never be approached or touched even if the lines do not appear to be live or sparking.
- Use caution when driving. Check for any Bay Bridge wind warnings and restrictions from MDTA by calling I-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726) or checking MDTA's social media Twitter/X and Facebook.

This is an important message from the City of Annapolis Office of Emergency Management:
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is currently monitoring a cold front that may bring possible severe thunderstorms and wind gusts to Annapolis today (March 5th) and Thursday (March 6th). Minor flooding associated with this storm is also expected today.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the following for the Annapolis area:
Forecast
The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has Central Maryland categorized as under a “slight risk” for severe weather today. The NWS is warning of the potential of two rounds of storms. Once late morning to early afternoon (12-4 PM) and again late into the evening (6-10 PM). Gusts of 30-45 mph are possible.Minor coastal flooding is likely around 8:30 PM, with maximum water levels between 2.7 and 3.2 ft MLLW.
