AlertAnnapolis - City of Annapolis Offices Will Open Two Hours Delayed Today & Additional Updates

This is an important message from the City of Annapolis Office of Emergency Management:

FORECAST UPDATE: Annapolis received an estimated 5" of snow. Accumulating snow has ended with only flurries expected to continue throughout the day. Total daytime snow accumulation today is anticipated to be less than a half inch.

CITY OPERATING STATUS & EMPLOYEES: Due to overnight snowfall, the City of Annapolis will open on Wednesday, February 12, on a two-hour delay (10:30 a.m.) with liberal leave or telework in place for non-essential employees with supervisor approval to eligible employees. Quasi-essential employees should check with their supervisor regarding their work assignments. Essential employees report for duty as normal.

EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER (EOC) and ANNAPOLIS CALL CENTER: The EOC will increase to Partial activation to support any response and recovery efforts for this weather event. The Annapolis Call Center will be operational today for non-emergency questions related to the winter storm and City Services. Annapolis residents can call 410-260-2211. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1.

PLOW OPERATIONS: The Annapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) crews worked overnight to plow and treat area roadways. As of 5:30 a.m., nearly all roads meet the passable standard.

RECREATION AND PARKS: The Roger “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center will open at 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • CLEAR SIDEWALKS: The Annapolis City Code requires property owners to clear adjacent public sidewalks (including sidewalks in the side and rear of properties) of snow and ice within three hours after snow or sleet has stopped falling (or by 11 a.m. following an overnight snow event).
  • REPORT A SNOW REMOVAL PROBLEM OR CONCERN: Residents are asked to use the “Report a Problem” portal to immediately report areas that may have been inadvertently missed or other snow removal concerns.
  • SNOWPATHS: The City of Annapolis invites residents to follow plow and treat operations by using SnowPaths, an initiative to provide residents, business owners, and visitors with GPS tracking of winter road maintenance during snow and ice events. SnowPaths features an interactive map that displays real-time information on when roads were last serviced. Users can also view priority levels for roads throughout the city. Priority roads include emergency and connector routes that are serviced more frequently to allow for essential travel and safer access to critical services.  Snowpaths is maintained by the Department of Public Works (DPW) and is accessible online at www.annapolis.gov/snowpaths
  • BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR: Check in on elderly and vulnerable neighbors and clear snow away from fire hydrants, including a path from the hydrant to the street so that firefighters can easily access it if needed.
