The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for...
South central Anne Arundel County in central Maryland...
Northwestern Calvert County in southern Maryland...
Southern Prince Georges County in central Maryland...
Northeastern Charles County in southern Maryland...

* Until 800 PM EDT.

* At 723 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Saint
Charles, or over Waldorf, moving northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches
to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as
damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by
downed trees. Localized power outages are possible.
Unsecured light objects may become projectiles.

* Locations impacted include...
Waldorf, Clinton, Fort Washington, Forestville, La Plata, Upper
Marlboro, Andrews Air Force Base, Camp Springs, Rosaryville,
Marlton, Dunkirk, Saint Charles, Accokeek, Bryans Road, Brandywine,
Baden, Morningside, Bryantown, Pomfret, and Port Tobacco Village.

Instructions

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning
are occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is
one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder,
you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
