For the week ending July 13th … Lytle P.D. officers handled 52 calls for service and conducted 78 traffic stops. Of those 78 stops, 40 resulted in citations and 38 were either verbal or written warnings.
There were no property crimes reported last week!
Officers made seven arrests last week. #1 – A 20-year-old male was cited for simple assault (class C) after an investigation into an incident on Harbour St. #2 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old female. She had an active Bexar Co. warrant for assault on a pregnant person. She was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #3 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the “cite and release” of a 23-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #4 – A report of suspicious activity at McDonald’s resulted in the “cite and release” of a 19-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #5 – A traffic stop on Railroad St. resulted in the arrest of a 43-year-old male for felony possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #6 – A traffic stop on Lytle-Somerset St. resulted in the arrest of a 46-year-old male for an active warrant out of Bexar Co. for assault against a family member and violation of a protective order. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #7 – A traffic stop on N. Prairie St. resulted in the “cite and release” of a 25-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia.
I was out of the office all last week. I attended the weeklong Texas Police Chief Leadership Series. It was a 40-hour legislatively mandated class that all police chiefs must take once every two years. This was the last one of the cycle, so it was packed! There were 162 chiefs in attendance. It was held at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio in wonderful downtown San Antonio. I commuted, and in five days, I took 4 different routes to get there! Traffic was a mess. Everything was under construction of some sort. I have a newfound appreciation for all those who commute to work. I am spoiled; I never commuted more than a mile or two for my primary job. The hotel’s event center was nice, and the food was great (they provided breakfast and lunch). We had a wide variety of chiefs in attendance, including Chief McManus from S.A.P.D. Sometimes the big city chiefs “slip out” and take longer breaks because they are “so busy.” Not McManus, that guy completed his time in class, and then I would see him on TV that night giving an interview to a reporter. After speaking to him, I concluded that if you take out his experience, education, salary, and height, we are pretty much the same! … Living the “police chief life” 24/7.
