Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report - Feb. 17, 2025
February 17, 2025
Good morning,
We have uploaded our weekly report to our website (www.lytletx.org). Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. You can reach me at our office (830-709-0277) or by email @ richard.priest@lytletx.org. City offices are closed today in observance of Presidents Day.
For the week ending Feb. 16, … Lytle P.D. Officers handled 39 calls for service. This was down from 47 calls last week. Officers conducted 43 traffic stops. Of those stops, 27 resulted in citations and 13 were warnings.
There were two arrests last week, both were for public intoxication. #1 – A 40-year-old female was arrested for PI, the arrest occurred in the 15300 Blk. of Main St. #2 – A 48-year-old male was arrested for PI, the arrest occurred at the Stripes C-Store. Both were booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
We only had one property crime reported last week! Here is the scoop … Officer A. Lopez was dispatched to the Dollar General for a theft. There was a dispute over the cost of an 8-pack of beer. He shorted the clerk $1.42 and took off. Ofc. A. Lopez reviewed video footage, located his license plate number, and went to his residence. He agreed to return to Dollar General and make things right. Our new motto is “No crime too large, no crime too small.”
Another “good job” to Ofc. /Deputy Fire Marshal Roger Garcia. On Wednesday, Feb. 12 at approx. 3:20 AM, he recognized suspicious vehicles and activity at the Stripes diesel pumps. Further investigation led to the recovery of items used to tamper with the fuel pumps. No arrests have been made, the case is under investigation and involves several prior incidents of diesel theft.
What else is happening? The Lytle Music Festival is set for March 21 & 22, 2025 at John Lott Park. Make plans to attend, it is a nice event. Free admission and parking is usually not a big issue, it’s family-friendly, and everybody is chill. We have plenty of security, we have never had a big fight or even a little one that I can remember. I can’t even remember the last time we had a parked vehicle broken into either. You can hang out for an hour or be there all day.
A few reminders … if you need a Lytle Police Officer, please call our 24-hour dispatch. The number is 830-769-3434 Option #1, the Atascosa Co. Sheriff’s Office will answer your call. Their communications officers have direct radio contact with our on-duty officers. Our police station is not staffed 24 hours a day, even during normal business hours all our staff may be away from the office. You can call our office number, 830-709-0277, and if no one is available you can send us a voicemail. If you have an emergency, please call 911.
Life is good … unless you eat a lot of eggs and don’t have chickens.
