Monday, Nov. 2nd, 2026
Greetings - We have uploaded the weekly report to our website at www.lytletx.org/police
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at our office number (830-709-0277) or by email at richard.priest@lytletx.org. We will be testing our tornado warning sirens on Wednesday, Nov. 4th at Noon. This is our normal, monthly test.

For the week ending Sunday, November 1, 2026, … Lytle P.D. officers handled 42 calls for service and conducted 74 traffic stops. Of those stops, 24 resulted in citations, and 50 were warnings.
Two property crimes were reported last week: #1 – A resident of Medlock Valley reported damage to his tailgate lock and rear window. Someone tried to steal it. The damage occurred between Oct. 29th and Oct. 31st. We are not sure where the incident occurred. #2 – H.E.B. Plus reported that an unknown suspect fled with two bags of unknown merchandise. They departed in a black SUV.
There were five arrests last week: #1 – A traffic stop on the access road of IH-35 resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old female for D.W.I. #2 & #3 – A traffic stop on Railroad St. resulted in the arrest of two 24-year-old females for possession of marijuana. #4 – A traffic stop on the access road of IH-35 resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old male. He had an active warrant out of Kendall County for postal larceny and theft. #5 – A 17-year-old male turned himself in at the P.D. for an active Lytle warrant for evading arrest with a Motor Vehicle. A week or so earlier he had fled a traffic stop, and an investigation resulted in the warrant.
We made it through Halloween without any incidents! It was busy, the weather was good and it fell on a Saturday, so the trick or treaters turned out in large numbers. Saddle Ridge Estates was packed! I was able to make one pass in a vehicle; we ended up doing foot patrol. Parents and kids hit all the regular stops too! Even with seven officers and vehicles, it still seemed like we couldn’t cover enough ground.
We were out in full force on Halloween, including Capt. Matthew Dear. He started his career with us on Halloween in 2002! That Saturday marked his 24th anniversary with the City of Lytle. We are hoping for many more.
If you are fortunate enough to be a regular reader of my weekly update, you will need to read this! The annual hayride, as we know it, won't happen this year! Save the date, though; we will still have an event on the evening of Saturday, December 12th. It will be a “big beautiful” event and will encompass some traditions you have come to know and love. Stay posted as we await confirmation from the "the powers that be"… the ones at the North Pole, not City Hall.
