For the week ending Sunday, October 25th, 2026, … Lytle P.D. officers handled 51 calls for service and conducted 44 traffic stops. Of those stops, 20 resulted in citations, and 24 were warnings.
There were three arrests last week but were all “cite and release” drug paraphernalia violations from the same contact. Capt. Dear and Ofc. Mendez were checking out a suspicious vehicle at the John Lott Park and cited two females and one male, two of them were 19 years old and one was 20.
A 55-year-old male was cited by our deputy fire marshals for violating the fire code, he released diesel and DEF onto the pavement at Stripes. The Lytle Fire Dept. assisted with the scene.
We only had one property crime reported last week. H.E.B. Plus reported that a female left the store without paying for a $110 blender. This “blender bandit” got away, for now. We are on the case.
This was a first for me … On Sunday, Sgt. D. Lopez and I responded to a disturbance on Lonesome Dove in the Saddle Ridge Estates subdivision. Upon arrival we observed broken glass and debris in the road. We contacted the occupants, who said the troublemakers just left. I asked if they might return and they said “no” we are about to “check out.” Yes, our first ever house party disturbance at an Airbnb!
Halloween is Saturday night! Please be careful if you are driving around town or out and about “trick or treating.”  Our population swells for a few hours as kids from all around the area descend on our streets to dress up in costume to get candy. Our officers will be out in full force but will be outnumbered! I have done well in the last few years by not eating any candy. Can I do it again? Pray for safety for everyone that night and for me to make good food choices.
The next big city event is the Christmas Hayride! It will be Saturday December 12th at the Lytle Community Center. The hayride starts around 6 PM. Get there early to secure a spot on the first trip around town. The cost is $1 or a canned good for each rider. Contact City Hall for more details. This has been an annual event for many years; I have been at been at almost everyone of them! It is one of our more popular city events.
