Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report - June 29, 2026
Monday, June 29, 2026
Greetings - We have uploaded the weekly report to our website at www.lytletx.org/police
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at our office number (830-709-0277) or by email at richard.priest@lytletx.org. The city will be testing our tornado warning sirens on Wednesday, July 1 at Noon (12 PM).
For the week ending Sunday, June 28th, 2026, … Your Lytle Police Officers handled 44 calls for service and conducted 57 traffic stops. Of those stops, 29 resulted in a citation, and 28 were warnings.
There were no property crimes reported last week! It looks like our thieves were on summer vacation.
There were 5 arrests last week. #1 – Officers responded to a vehicle blocking the intersection of IH-35 access road and McDonald St. The contact resulted in the arrest of a 51-year-old male for an active warrant out of Bexar County for unlawfully carrying a weapon. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #2 – A report for a male smoking marijuana in the Twin Liquors parking lot resulted in the “cite and release” of a 33-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #3 – A welfare check near the Taco Bell resulted in the arrest of a 34-year-old female for violation of a protective order. She was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #4 – A 35-year-old male turned himself in to the Lytle P.D. on an active felony warrant. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #5 – A 71-year-old male was arrested for criminal trespass at the H.E.B. C-Store. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
The Lytle Public Library will host an event for the kiddos on Thursday, July 2, from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. The event will be a “Foam Party,” as they have in past years. This year the event will be at John Lott Park (19010 Live Oak St., Pavilion Side) so there will be more room and easier access. You may want to bring swimwear, extra clothes, and a towel. Lawn chairs are welcome. Contact the folks over at the library for more details.
Please remember that the discharge of fireworks in the city is prohibited by city ordinance … unless it is a permitted event conducted by state-licensed operators. Which leads us to our 4th of July celebration. Join us at John Lott Park on Saturday, July 4th for a big fireworks show! The activities start at 6 PM: food trucks, DJ, etc. The real show starts just after dark when the fireworks start firing off. This is a “for real” fireworks show that will be very impressive! I remember when we started these shows, maybe 25 years ago. Initially, public works set up all the fireworks, and at one event when it was time to light them up … well, they all kind of went off at the same time. It was an impressive, but short show.
If you are a history buff and are looking to own a piece of Lytle P.D. history, you may have that chance. The city will be accepting sealed bids on a 2019 Dodge Charger, and yes, it has a big V8 in it and was driven by Sgt. Gordon Hanson. If you were pulled over by the Lytle P.D. in the last six or seven years, there is a good chance this vehicle was what you saw when you looked in your rearview mirror. The vehicle is available for inspection at our police station, it is parked in the front parking lot (15245 Hester St.). The official notice should be in the Devine News this week; I think the city will be accepting bids until around mid-July. It is being sold as is, no warranties, no refunds, no deliveries, etc. I would bid on it myself, but I’m running a little short on funds.
