Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at our office number (830-709-0277) or by email at richard.priest@lytletx.org. There will be a regular city council meeting tonight at 6:30 PM at Lytle City Hall (Monday, June 8, 2026). Stop in and check out your elected officials at work.
For the week ending Sunday, June 7th, 2026, … Your Lytle Police Officers handled 50 calls for service and conducted 79 traffic stops. Of those stops, 33 resulted in a citation, and 46 were warnings.
No property crimes were reported last week!
There were 4 arrests last week. #1 – A traffic stop on FM 2790 E. resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old male for an active felony domestic violence warrant out of Bexar County. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #2 – A traffic stop near the intersection of FM 2790 N. and Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #3 – Ofc. Paul Tafolla was on patrol and located a male subject hiding behind a telephone poll on South Benton St. It was determined that the suspect was armed and pointed a firearm at the officer. Fortunately, the suspect followed Tafolla’s verbal commands and was taken into custody without incident. An AR-15 Pistol, along with 79 rounds of ammunition were recovered. The suspect (a 39-year-old male) was a convicted felon and had an active warrant out of the State Pardons and Parole Board. He was arrested on the warrant and a charge of felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. This was a very intense event, and it could have ended tragically. More charges are pending. Ofc. Paul Tafolla’s training and experience paid off, he did a fantastic job during this critical incident. #4 – A 70-year-old male was arrested for trespassing at the H.E.B. C-Store. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
Our big 250th Anniversary of the U.S.A. Fireworks show will be Saturday, July 4th at John Lott Park. The event will start at 6 PM. You can expect … a DJ, Food Trucks, and Fireworks (when it gets dark!). The event is free but remember … no glass bottles are allowed in the park. I am trying to find glass detectors to place at the entrances, but I can’t find any. So, I guess we will be on the honor system. Also, there is city ordinance that prohibits horses in the park. So don’t try to sneak in the park with your horse either. We are trained to detect disguises, and if you show up with your horse dressed as a cow … we will issue you a ticket for violating the city ordinance. If you sneak a horse in with saddle bags full of glass bottles … that’s an automatic SWAT team activation. I make no apologies for being a “law and order” kind of guy.
I had the pleasure of attending a class in Jourdanton, last Thursday. The instructor was San Marcos Police Chief Stan Standridge. The class was Active Attack Incident Management, an ALERRT center class. There were also some area school leadership attendees as well. Following the class the Sheriff’s school safety meeting was held. Atascosa County Sheriff Jake Guerra sponsored the class, and it was great! It was very well attended. The Sheriff also arranged for lunch to be provided (Thanks to the Atascosa County School Safety Fund). The City of Jourdanton provided the community center. I figured since it was just across the street from the jail, I would see trustees carting over food from the jail kitchen! I was wrong, we had great BBQ catered by a local restaurant. Top quality training for free and lunch to boot … you can’t beat that.
