Last week at Lytle P.D. … Officers handled 61 calls for service and conducted 95 traffic stops. Of those stops, 42 resulted in citations and 53 were warnings (either verbal or written).
There were 5 property crimes reported last week. #1 – The Roadster Travel Center reported the theft of a pair of boots and two purses, valued at $200. The theft occurred two days prior to the report. #2 – Patriot Gas reported that someone attempted to steal their 2004 Chevy work truck from behind their office on Main St. The passenger side door and the steering column were damaged. #3 – A resident in the 14400 Blk of Railroad St. reported numerous power and hand tools stolen from an unsecured garage. #4 – A complainant reported that his 2024 Ford F350 was “keyed” while he was at the H.E.B. Plus. #5 – The Roadster Travel Center reported a Class C theft; an arrest was made (see arrests section).
There were 5 arrests last week: #1 – A traffic stop on Lake and Wisdom resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old male for Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #2 – Officers responded to a disturbance at theTots to Teens Dentistry. A 22-year-old female was cited and released for assault by contact. #3 – Officers were notified of a wanted person in the 19300 Blk of McDonald St. A 44-year-old male was arrested on an active warrant out of Frio County for Abusive 911 calls. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #4 & #5 – Officers responded to a theft in progress at the Roadster Travel Center. A 39-year-old female was cited and released for class C theft, and a 41-year-old male was arrested for an active warrant out of Medina County for Failure to Appear and also was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. Interestingly, these two individuals engaged in a previous theft at the Roadster Travel Center and the H.E.B. Plus; we will be proceeding with those cases as well.
Our next big event is quickly approaching … our 4th of July Fireworks show at John Lott Park! This year, July 4th will fall on a Saturday, so I expect a bigger-than-usual crowd. I don’t know the details, but I expect there will be food trucks on site. The fireworks show will start a little after dark. The nighttime shows are a lot better than the ones that take place during the day.
Our big 75th birthday party for the City of Lytle will be held on Saturday, September 19th. It will start with a night parade and immediately after the parade, we will close off a section of Main St. for a street party with live music. All indications are that this will be a “big one.”  Reach out to City Hall for details.
About the only comments or complaints that I get usually involves traffic, primarily speeders. We currently have one radar speed trailer, fortunately it looks like we will have the opportunity to add another one or two out of this year’s existing budget. They tend to work very well; we all need a little reminder every now and then.
