Lytle Police activity for last week included: Officers handled 50 service calls and conducted 41 traffic stops. Of those stops, 18 were issued citations, and 23 were given warnings.
There were 5 arrests last week. #1- A 64-year-old male was cited and released for burning without a permit. The incident occurred on Railroad St. #2 – A 70-year-old male was arrested for Criminal Trespass at the H.E.B. C-Store. #3 – Officers responded to Lynda’s Island Apartments (15300 Main St.) for a disturbance. A 54-year-old male was arrested for assault causing bodily injury and resisting arrest. #4 – Officers arrested a 40-year-old male for trespassing at John Lott Park. #5 – A report of suspicious activity at H.E.B. Plus resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old female for Failure to I.D. – Fugitive from Justice. It was determined she had an active felony dope warrant out of Bexar County.
There were 4 property crimes reported last week. #1 – A complainant reported that he lost his wallet and $1,000 cash while in Las Vegas. His credit card was used at a parking garage. If I had taken the report, I would have told the complainant, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas”. #2 – A complainant reported that a 38-foot bumper pull (2022 Forest River Cherokee) travel trailer was stolen from 18200 Wisdom Road. The theft occurred sometime between April 6, 2026, and April 22, 2026. #3 – Officers responded to the H.E.B. Plus for a report of a brisket theft. An unknown person took numerous briskets and fled the store. The case is under investigation. #4 – Officers responded to the H.E.B. Plus for a report of a theft. An unknown person made off with $338 worth of alcoholic beverages, a small ice machine, and a mixer! The case is under investigation.
A couple of months ago, we recieved an email from the Texas Police Chiefs’ Association (TPCA) Foundation. They invited us to apply for a couple of small grants. Capt. Matthew Dear jumped on it, put it all together, and submitted it. We were notified last week that we received a $1,000 training credit for classes hosted by the TPCA Foundation. That will work out great as both Capt. Dear and Sgt. D. Lopez are attending a series of classes to achieve their Law Enforcement Command Officer Program (LECOP) certificate. We also received notification that we were one of 20 agencies to be awarded $1,000 credit for the purchase of individual first aid kits (IFAKs) and or combat tourniquets. A special thank you to Capt. Matthew Dear for taking on this project. I am not sure what he submitted on our applications, but it worked!
As you know, our city is celebrating its 75th anniversary. We will also get our 3rd water tower this year too. It is under construction in the Rosewood Estates subdivision. It’s amazing that those two milestones are hitting in the same year. That makes us a little more “big time”. I might even have to start wearing a suit and tie every day.
