Looking back at last week … Lytle Police Officers handled 52 calls for service and conducted 77 traffic stops. Of those 77 stops, 44 resulted in citations, and 33 were issued warnings.
There were four arrests last week: #1 – A 49-year-old male was “cited and released” for theft after he stole 4 alcoholic beverages without paying for them. #2 – A report of a male “slumped over the steering wheel” resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #3 – Officer Mendez attempted to stop a speeding motorist on Railroad St. The driver failed to stop and led the officer around numerous city streets. She was finally stopped on Lytle-Somerset St. at the McDonald’s.  The 37-year-old female driver was taken into custody. She was charged with resisting arrest (Class A Misdemeanor) and evading arrest with a motor vehicle (State Jail Felony). She was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #4 – A 911 call in the 15100 Blk of Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 48-year-old female for public intoxication. She was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
Five property crimes were reported last week: #1 – A complainant reported that she left approximately. $900 worth of jewelry at the tennis courts at John Lott Park. #2 – The alcoholic beverage theft from the H.E.B. C-Store where we cited the 49-year-old male. #3 – The Good Luck Mart (14600 Main St.) reported that an unknown male stole a 12-pack of beer valued at $21. #4 – On April 11th, the Lytle Tire Shop reported the theft of two propane tanks, wheels, and tires valued at $1,000.  The theft occurred approx. 2 weeks prior. It was just discovered. #5 – Our officer responded to the H.E.B. Plus for a report of a theft. A male suspect made off with briskets and a Ninja Slushie Mixer for a total loss valued at $468.  If you see or hear of someone selling brisket slushies … give us a call.
The city offers an alerting system to notify residents in a variety of situations. We try to keep residents informed, and this is just one tool we utilize. If we have a major road closure, weather, utility issue, crime spree, etc., this is how we inform our citizens.  Other information is sent out occasionally as well. We can send out emails and texts, and in a very serious situation, phone calls will be made. But …. None of this matters if you are not set up to get the notifications. You can sign up by following this link to our website. Once there, you will see a variety of options.

If you prefer, you can simply email us your name, phone number, and provide the email you want listed, and we will add it in the system for you. Send those requests to  lytlepolice@lytletx.org We will never sell your phone number or email … unless the city gets really hard up and needs the money.  Everyone already has my phone number and email. Just this weekend alone, I was texted about confirming both my Republican and Democrat party status … with an option for a donation, of course.
Did you know … Scottsdale, Arizona, is also celebrating 75 years as a city. It was incorporated on June 25, 1951. They only had about 2,000 people when they incorporated; and today their population is around 250K.  They grew more rapidly than we did. They are having a big bash on June 25. The last time I was in Arizona in June, it was about 110 degrees outside. Our 75th event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026. We will have a night parade and then a block party on Main St. with live music and other good “stuff”.
