Lytle police activity for the week ending April 5, 2026, ... Officers handled 45 calls for service and conducted 111 traffic stops. Of those stops, 62 resulted in citations and 49 were warnings.
The only property crime reported was damage to a railing at the Pumphouse Carwash (Lytle-Somerset St.).
There were five arrests last week. #1 - A 23-year-old male arrived at the PD and turned himself in on a felony drug warrant out of Mason Co. The warrant was confirmed and he was transported to the Atascosa County Jail. #2 - A roll-over accident at the intersection of Wisdom Rd. and Ball Rd. resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old male for D.W.I. #3 & #4 - Officer P. Tafolla observed a "rolling" disturbance. He stopped one of the vehicles and determined the driver to be intoxicated. The 23-year-old male driver was arrested for D.W.I. and the 24-year-old male passenger was arrested for Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon. Both were booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #5 - A vehicle accident on FM 279 @ Farmer Road resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
Last week ... Captain Matthew Dear and Sergeant David Lopez attended the Texas Police Chief's Association annual conference in Corpus Christi. They received some first-class training and did some serious networking. I stayed home and held the fort down this year. I heard Corpus has some water problems and I bathe every day, so I didn't want to add to their problems.
I want to highlight another one of my observations on the city's 75th anniversary. Those original founding fathers also had to put in some roads. I am sure that was a big task. Sadly, none of our original roads exist. They have all been repaved, rebuilt, and or repaired. But if want to see and feel a road that most likely hasn't been touched since the 1950s' I would suggest you drive on FM 2790 between Lytle and La Coste.
