For the week ending Sunday, February 1, 2026 … Officers handled 48 calls for service and conducted 82 traffic stops. Of those stops, 39 resulted in citations, and 43 were warnings.
Only one property crime was reported last week. On Wednesday, January 28 at approximately 2:30 PM, officers took a report of a theft. The complainant reported that she left her purse in the Burger King. When she returned, it was missing. The purse contained credit cards and $4,300 in cash.
There was also only one arrest last week. Captain Dear, Sgt. D. Lopez, and Sgt. D. Robison responded to the interstate for a report of a northbound vehicle that was involved in an aggravated assault in Zavala County. Our team actually located the vehicle and got it stopped at the Roadster Truck Stop. The driver, a 20-year-old male, was arrested on an active warrant for violating a protective order. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. The vehicle was impounded, and evidence from the event was released to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office.
A short report this week. Why? I got hit with the flu again, and it was a slow week. It took me all day just to get this done from the house. I normally can spin out a report in 30 minutes. I sure am blessed to have a good team that can keep the operation going while I am away.
