Greetings -
Monday, January 12, 2026, we have uploaded the weekly report to our website www.lytletx.org/police
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at our office number (830-709-0277) or by email at richard.priest@lytletx.org

For the week ending Sunday, January 11th, 2026, Lytle P.D. officers handled 62 calls for service and conducted 169 traffic stops. Of those stops, 82 resulted in citations, and 87 were warnings.
There were no property crimes reported last week!. The closest thing we had was a call to H.E.B. Plus for an attempted theft. They recovered the property and opted not to file charges, so by the time our officer got there, it was all over. I am mighty happy that our property crimes have been low.
There was only one arrest last week! Ofc. S. Mendez stopped a vehicle for a defective headlamp on Main St. A 41-year-old male was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
It was a nice, slow week for your local crime fighters. We like that, it gives us time to catch up on reports.
Around the 1st of February, we will be advertising to fill a vacant full-time peace officer position. This is the position that was vacated when Ofc. Frank Reyes transferred to be the full-time code compliance officer at City Hall in October. The applicant must have an active Texas Peace Officer license or be currently enrolled in a police academy. There will be numerous opportunities for advancement as our city continues to grow rapidly. Now is an exciting time to join our team.
What else is going on? Well, it looks like the Goodwill store will open in mid-to-late February; that’s what we are being told. It’s in a good location, and I am sure it will do well. That also means that now your co-worker might get you a Goodwill Gift Card for your birthday instead of one from Bill Miller BBQ.
