City offices will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday this week for the Christmas Holiday.

For the week ending Sunday, December 21, 2025 – Officers handled 59 calls for service and made 74 traffic stops. Of those stops, 32 resulted in citations, and 42 warnings were issued.
For the second week in a row … there were no property crimes reported to us!
There was only one arrest last week. Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the International House of Pancakes for a disturbance. One of the people involved had an active Parole Violation warrant (Texas Board of Pardons & Parole). The 34-year-old male was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
L.P.D. Deputy Fire Marshals responded to two residential fire incidents last week. A resident in the Saddle Ridge subdivision had an issue caused by an electrical box in the attic, and a resident on Main St. accidentally left the stove on, which left him with smoke and heat damage. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in connection with these calls.
Officers transported one homeless person to Haven for Hope in San Antonio (at their request), and another person experiencing mental health issues was transported to the Camino Real Crisis Center (at their request).
So far, we have been fortunate this holiday season. It is normally either very slow or very busy; we are trending on the “very slow” track right now. I just hope I don’t get too lazy when I am at work. It was so slow and quiet the other day, I woke up late from my midday nap and missed Bonanza and The Rifleman!
As a reminder to our residents, the discharge of fireworks within the city limits is prohibited. We can't cover every street and track down fireworks violators. If you have a problem, please call our dispatcher (the Atascosa Co. Sheriff’s Office) at 830-769-3434 Option #1. They have direct radio contact with our on-duty officers and will send them your way.
Merry Christmas from all of us at the Lytle Police Department!
