What happened around Lytle P.D. last week? Well … officers handled 57 calls for service and conducted 68 traffic stops. Of those stops, 30 were citations and 38 were warnings.
Two property crimes were reported last week. #1 – Burglary of a Vehicle - A customer at the El Bufalo Pawn Shop reported that a toolbox with Milwaukee battery-powered tools was stolen from his 2024 Ford F250. #2 - Theft – H.E.B. Plus reported that a male subject purchased 12 trees for $186. He took the trees but then came back several hours later and grabbed another 12 trees, the same types that he purchased earlier. Most likely, he figured they would show the receipt from earlier if questioned. I will admit it was a decent “crook” plan, but it won’t work around here. The case is under investigation.
There were 3 arrests last week. #1 – A traffic stop at Main St. and Benton St. resulted in the “cite and release” of a 25-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #2 – Officers responded to an incident at a residence in the 18700 block of FM 2790 N., and a 48-year-old female was booked into the Medina County Jail on a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Family). She was booked into the Medina County Jail. #3 – A traffic stop on Main St. for speeding resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
The Christmas Hayride is quickly approaching! The event will be Saturday, Dec. 13. We hope to have the first wave of trailers take off at 6 PM. We still need a few more trailers! Do you have a truck and a flatbed trailer (20 feet or longer would be ideal)? Would you like to contribute your time and be part of the hayride? You would be random people through town, with a police escort, of course. We would ask that you be a safe driver and know how to pull a trailer. The last thing we need is a bunch of people falling off. Reach out to Ashlee at City Hall, ashlee.saunders@lytletx.org  , if this is something you can help us out with.
Also on Saturday, December 13th, at 11:00 am, Lytle will have our very first Wreaths Across America ceremony in Lytle. It will take place at the Lytle Community Cemetery. We have 225 Veterans in the Lytle Community Cemetery and The Lytle Masonic Cemetery, as well as Coal Mine, that will be honored and remembered by a live wreath being placed on their headstones. It will be happening across the entire USA at the same time and same day.
On Veterans Day, we were honored to assist with Lytle I.S.D.’s annual Veterans Day Parade and program. This is a nice event, veterans decorate their vehicles, and we lead them around the campuses. The students from all the schools watched outside. It ended at the football stadium where the Lytle Elementary sang a few patriotic songs. The weather was great, and it was the largest one yet. As a bonus, I was on my e-bike, and I didn’t fall off.
