Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report - October 27, 2025
Monday, Oct. 27, 2025
We have uploaded our weekly report to our website www.lytletx.org/police Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at our office number (830-709-0277) or by email at richard.priest@lytletx.org. There will be a city council meeting tonight (Monday, Oct. 27th, 2025) at 6:30 PM at City Hall.
Last week at Lytle P.D. … Officers responded to 67 calls for service and conducted 88 traffic stops. Of those stops, 39 resulted in citations, and the remaining 49 were warnings.
There were only two property crimes reported last week, maybe just one, depending on how you count it. It all went down at the H.E.B. Plus. A female suspect made off with about $80 worth of merchandise. These items included hair care products, baby wipes, and diapers. She headed back about an hour later to finish her shopping. On the second trip, she made off with about $75 worth of product. These items included laundry care products, 20 oz Soft Soap (1 coconut and 1 cucumber), and she topped it off with a Monster Energy drink.
Officers made three arrests last week. #1 – Under the “Friday Night Lights” - Officers responded to the Walter Joyce Football Stadium for a report of an adult male with a THC vape pen. Ofc. L. Diaz took custody of the 39-year-old male from Medina & Atascosa County Sheriff’s deputies. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail on felony drug possession (in a drug-free zone). #2 – A traffic stop for speeding on Main St. resulted in the “cite and release” of a 22-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #3 – A traffic stop on Main St. for “no headlights” resulted in the arrest of a 65-year-old male for D.W.I. (2nd). He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
Our Homecoming Parade was canceled due to the rain. I was left all dressed up in my bike patrol uniform with nowhere to go. There is always “next time.” It’s hard to believe that it hadn’t rained in over 45 days, and it picks the day of the parade to rain. We should just have parades during the summer; it might bring rain.
Just a reminder that Halloween is on Friday, please expect a lot of foot traffic on many of our streets. Lytle has always been a “trick or treat” destination for a large area surrounding our city. We will NOT be closing N. Prairie St. as we have done in the past; the parking for that will not be available. The large area used for parking is now fenced off, for an addition to the Lytle Primary Campus that is well underway. The Pirates will also be hosting a home game that night; the stadium is adjacent to N. Prairie St.
Our officers will be out in full force on Halloween. With it being a Friday night, it could go either way. There could be more trick-or-treaters or less than normal.
I took a couple of days off last week and made a road trip up to see my dad, my brother, and his family. I took a load of furniture and cabinets that my mom was “gifting” to him. So, we headed up North Texas way to Bells. It was good seeing them all, and it was also good to get rid of all that furniture. That area has sure changed; when we exited off 75 in Melissa, I saw a big new H.E.B.
Food review portion of the trip. – On the way back, we stopped at the Eagles’ Landing in Bruceville-Eddy. The billboards say they have the best chicken-fried steak in Texas. My traveling companions: a guy named Jake from Atascosa Co. EMS, a guy that works with me named David, and my oldest son … all agreed. I had the hamburger steak, and it exceeded my expectations.
