All things Lytle P.D. … Your officers handled 70 calls for service last week and conducted 83 traffic stops! Of those stops, 42 resulted in a citation and 41 resulted in either a verbal or written warning.
Only two property crimes were reported last week! #1 – H.E.B. Plus reported the theft of merchandise valued at $125. #2 – My mom called to report that a 16” gate was stolen from her property on McDonald St. (by O’Reily’s Auto Parts). She was one of the most upset complainants that I have dealt with recently.
The PD also took a report from a complainant who lost their iPhone 15 at the H.E.B. C-Store.
There were 5 arrests last week; #1 – A traffic stop on Railroad St. resulted in a 61-year-old male being “cited and released” for possession of drug paraphernalia. #2 – A traffic stop on Main St. for driving in the wrong lane of traffic resulted in the arrest of a 51-year-old female for D.W.I. #3 – Ofc. S. Mendez responded to assist the public with a vehicle lockout at the Grand Somerset Apartments. She recognized one of the individuals as a wanted person. So, she unlocked the vehicle and then confirmed the fellow was wanted! The 46-year-old male was arrested on a felony Burglary of a Habitation warrant out of Bexar Co. #4 – A traffic stop on FM 3175 at the access road of IH-35 resulted in the arrest of a 61-year-old female for D.W.I. #5 – A report of a suspicious person at the Stripes resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old male for evading arrest or detention.
I would like to mention again the homecoming parade, which will take place on Saturday, October 25. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. Please keep this in mind if you are travelling in the area around Main St. There will be detours and road closures. I expect the road to open by 11:00 AM or a little after.
Myself, Capt. Dear and Sgt. Lopez flew out to Kansas City, MO., last week to pick up three new police vehicles. Two of them were pre-built with much of the emergency equipment already installed. Our other option was to order them and then have them upfitted, which would take about 6 months. With this purchase, they will be up and running much sooner. The trip cost 1/3 of what the delivery charge would have been. Driving back from Kansas was an event. Matt and David took the wrong exit in Emporia, KS., and I was the last vehicle, so they let me know. I took the right exit, but immediately took a different wrong exit. I ended up on the Kansas Turnpike, and I eventually was able to get. For the next several hours, we were parallel to each other on some Kansas back roads. Two towns that seemed neat were El Dorado and Windfield. Both had nice, vibrant old downtown areas. After several hours, I met up with Matt and David at a Braum’s in Blackwell, OK. After a quick overnight stay in Norman, we were on the way home. The worst traffic of the whole trip was in Austin and San Antonio. We made it home safely with the cars, too!
