It was quiet on the Lytle P.D. home front. Your officers handled 61 calls for service and conducted 76 traffic stops during the week ending Sunday, September 21. Of those traffic stops, 36 resulted in citations, and 40 warnings were issued.
We only had two property crimes reported last week! #1 – There was an attempted theft at the H.E.B. Plus. A female packed a storage container full of high-dollar items; she fled once she realized that H.E.B. partners were watching her. She must have taken an online theft class that taught her how to maximize her space for concealing stolen goods. The container contained over $1,600 worth of items. For example, she had $180 worth of Primatene Mist, $94 worth of Flonase, and about $130 worth of batteries. #2 – Officers were dispatched to a residence on Open Range for a suspicious person. A male was issued a criminal trespass notice. After he departed, it was discovered that a tire had been “slashed.”
There were five arrests last week. #1 – A traffic stop on FM 2790 resulted in a 39-year-old female being cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia. #2 – A report of suspicious activity on Open Range resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old male. He had an active warrant out of Frio County for probation violation, with an original charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #3 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrests of a 24-year-old male for possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying a weapon. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #4 – Officers responded to a school facility on Cottage St. for a report of a suspicious person. A 28-year-old male was arrested on a warrant out of Denton County for Failure to Pay Child Support. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #5 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the “cite” and release of a 44-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia.
If you want to participate in the homecoming parade, you can drop by City Hall and pick up an entry form. This is a great chance to highlight your business or organization. The more candy you throw, the better! There is so much candy that you would think a dentist sponsored the event. For additional information or to obtain a form by email, please contact Tammy McDonald at tammy.mcdonald@lytleisd.org
or Wendy Conover at wendy.conover@lytleisd.org. The parade will take place on Saturday, October 25th, and will start at 10:00 AM.  The parade route covers most of Main St.
Our National Night Out event is only a few weeks away. Join us at the Lytle Community Center on Tuesday, Oct. 7th, at 6 PM for a fun time. We will be providing food, drinks, snacks, and giveaways. If your business or organization would like to attend, please let me know, and I will add you to the list. Prevailing Word Church has plans to have a drawing for three gift cards! They will be giving away a $100 gift card and two $25 gift cards.
The Christmas hayride is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13th. The event will take place that evening, and we will gather at the Lytle Community Center to get started. This is a very popular event and is fun for the whole family.
Thank you for your continued support. We always look forward to the upcoming events. The events are nice, but there are just a few little extra things to do from time to time. Our community, where we live, is a great place because of the things that take place every day. Okay, leave out the traffic and go with me on this one. - Richey
