Monday, Sept. 15, 2025
Hello all -
We have uploaded our weekly report to our website  www.lytletx.org/police. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at our office number (830-709-0277) or by email at richard.priest@lytletx.org.

Here is your snapshot of Lytle P.D. activity for the past week … Officers handled 61 calls for service and conducted 71 traffic stops. Of those stops, 29 resulted in citations and 42 were either verbal or written warnings.
It was a slow week and I don’t have much to report on.
We had one big property crime at the Stripes C-store. Our alleged thief stole two burritos, one cheese stick, and a Slurpee. I must admit, it does sound like an appealing combination, depending on the Slurpee flavor. The suspect, a 21-year-old male, was cited and released.
There were four arrests #1 – A traffic stop on Somerset St. resulted in the arrest of a 55-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance (Felony). He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #2 – A traffic stop on the access road of IH-35 resulted in the “cite and release” of a 25-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #3 – Our theft from Stripes (mentioned above). #4 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the “cite and release” of a 24-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia.
There are 15 businesses or organizations that have signed up for a table at our National Night Out. We still have room available, so feel free to reach out. Free food, drinks, and snacks … Tuesday, Oct. 7th, 2025, at the Lytle Community Center. The event will run from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. Everyone is invited!
We should be posting for a full-time Police Officer position soon. Ofc. Frank Reyes will be transferring to City Hall as the city’s full-time code compliance officer, so that will open his slot. The applicant must already have a peace officer license or be currently enrolled in a Police Academy. While we will miss Frank, but we will still be working with him on projects. We wish him the best as he takes on this new role.
The big data center just south of town has started turning dirt. If you live and or travel through town, you might notice an increase in traffic during the construction phase which will take a couple of years. Heck, it takes a while to build something that costs 900 million dollars. Move over, Austin, we might become the next “tech” capital of Texas. Maybe I could use my year of community college (from the late 80s) to snag a high-tech job.
