Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report - Sept. 8, 2025

Monday, Sept. 8, 2025
Hello all -
We have uploaded our weekly report to our website  www.lytletx.org/police. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. You can reach me at our office number (830-709-0277) or by email at richard.priest@lytletx.org. There will be a regular city council meeting on WEDNESDAY Sept. 9th at 6:30 PM. Please note the day of the week change for this meeting.

Lytle P.D. activity for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 7, 2025, … Officers handled 54 calls and conducted 106 traffic stops. Of those stops, 42 resulted in citations, and the other 64 were either written or verbal warnings.
There were 4 arrests last week. #1 – A one-vehicle accident on FM 2790 @ the IH-35 underpass resulted in the arrest of a 55-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #2 – A traffic stop on FM 3175 @ the IH-35 Access Rd. resulted in the “cite and release” of a 44-year-old female for possession of drug paraphernalia. #3 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in “cite and release” of a 47-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #4 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
Here are the property crimes that were reported last week (there were 3 of them) … #1 & #2 – Two Ford F250 Pickups had their side window broken out. Nothing was missing from either vehicle. There were firearms in the vehicles; thank God they weren’t taken. If our crooks intended to burglarize the vehicles, then maybe they got spooked by something or somebody and had a change of plans. #3 – A complaint reported that she lost her wallet, it got turned in at the business center at H.E.B. Plus … just minus $40 she had in it. What normally happens is that a person finds the wallet, takes the money, and then dumps the wallet. Then another person finds the wallet, does the right thing, and turns it in.
To recap upcoming events … Tuesday, Oct. 7th, the Lytle National Night Out event will be held at the Community Center. Free food, drinks, and snacks will be provided. Area Fire, Police, Sheriff, and EMS will be in attendance. Local businesses and organizations will have tables to highlight/promote/inform you about what they do and what services they offer. Send me an email or call if you are interested in a table. On Saturday, Oct. 25th, the Lytle Ex-Students Association, in conjunction with the City of Lytle, will be having a Homecoming Parade. The event will take place on Main St. and start at 10:00 AM. The parade normally lasts about an hour. If you don’t plan to attend the parade, at least keep the event in mind if you plan to travel on Main St. around the time of the event. Main St. will be shut down, and access to businesses will be limited.
I was able to meet the new Chief of Police in Devine; he seems like a good fellow. He was overly impressed with me and my vast “chief” knowledge, or at least that is the impression I took away from the conversation. Another neighboring department will be looking for a new Chief. Poteet canned their Chief, Lieutenant, and Sergeant Investigator all at the same time. I watched a few of their city council meetings online, and they were very “lively.” You can’t sleep through those meetings, that gavel is set on full auto. I thought about retiring and applying there. I have always liked strawberries.
