We will be testing the Tornado Warning Sirens on Wednesday, Sept. 3rd at Noon.
September has arrived! We are all hoping for some cooler weather soon! Your Lytle P.D. was busy last week. Officers handled 67 calls for service and conducted 200 traffic stops. Of those stops, 103 resulted in a citation, and the remaining 97 were either written or verbal warnings.
There were three property crimes reported. From a trash can to a big trailer! #1 – A resident on CR 6842 reported that a “porch pirate” (not to be confused with a Lytle Pirate) made off with a freshly delivered package. Did our crook make off with some high-dollar valuables? No, it was a box of baked goods. # 2 – A resident on Imes Way reported their Waste Management trash can as stolen. #3- Officers were dispatched to the Roadster Truck Stop for a theft of a 2016 refrigerated trailer. It was stolen around 9:15 AM on Sunday, August 31. It was parked in the truck parking lot.
There were 10 arrests last week. Those arrests included: Numbers 1, 2, & 3 were all from a traffic stop on Magnolia St. at Benton St. A 42-year-old male was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a 23-year-old male was arrested for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and a 55-year-old female was arrested for Failure to Identify. They were all booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #4 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in a 21-year-old male being cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia. #5 – A traffic stop on McDonald St. resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old male for an active D.W.I. warrant out of Bexar Co. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #6 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old female. She had an active warrant out of Bexar County for failure to identify and was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #7 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the cite and release of a 37-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #8 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #9 – A traffic stop on Lytle-Somerset St. resulted in the cite and release of a 37-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #10 – A report of an intoxicated driver at the Stripes C-Store resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail.
Scammers hit the Roadster Truck Stop. They called in and spoke to the clerk, impersonated a FedEx employee, and told the clerk to deposit money in the Bitcoin machine. The clerk made the transaction before they realized they were being swindled. Will this scamming madness ever stop?
Labor Day weekend traffic was heavy around the IH-35 corridor. Our business in that area appeared real busy. I worked and spent most of the weekend “on the road.” The mornings weren’t that bad, but by Noon it heated up and wasn’t so pleasant. There wasn’t much chit-chat on my traffic stops. I took care of business and got back into the AC.
Our National Night Out event is a little over a month away. It will be on Tuesday, Oct. 7th at the Lytle Community Center … from 6P-8P. Contact me if you want to help sponsor the event or set up a table for your business or organization. We will be providing free food, drinks, and snacks. You can come hang out with local public safety people and grab a free meal. You may not even like the cops, that’s okay. We will have firefighters, and everybody loves them. Free food and firefighters, you can’t beat that.
