Town of Telluride: Tomboy Road Closed for Potholing

Tomboy Road Potholing Project | January 13-15

Young Services will be performing water main potholing along Tomboy Road beginning Tuesday, January 13, starting as early as 9:00 a.m.

What to know:

  • Road Closure: Tomboy Road will be closed to vehicles during work hours, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Limited Access: The contractor may allow vehicles through at times, but not during active potholing.
  • Duration: Work is expected to be complete by the end of the day Thursday, January 15.

Please plan ahead and use alternate routes when possible. Thank you for your patience as this work is completed.

Water main potholing is a careful way to locate underground water pipes before construction or repairs.

Here’s a simple explanation:

  • Crews dig small, shallow holes (“potholes”) in the street or ground
  • The goal is to see exactly where the water main is
  • This helps workers avoid damaging pipes during future work
  • It improves safety, reduces surprises, and helps projects go faster
